DAY 1: DEPARTURE

DAY 2: NAIROBI - NANYUKI
We arrive early morning into Nairobi and transfer 4 hrs to the Nanyuki Hotel,
by Mt. Kenya National Park, where we stay overnight. We arrive for lunch after
driving through fascinating coffee plantations of the Central Highlands. Here we relax and prepare for tomorrows challenge and this evening we have a welcome dinner and briefing with our guides.

DAY 3: OLD MOSES CAMP (3-4hrs trekking/ 9 km)
After breakfast we transfer 1hr to Sirimon Park Gate where we enter the Park. After the formalities we join the trail to Old Moses Camp through the rain forest and experience the rich variety of flora and fauna. The trek along the Sirimon Valley through Podo forests and bamboo bushes has beautiful scenery all around. From Old Moses Camp,the main summits of Batian, Nelion and Point Lenana are visible.

DAY 4: LIKI NORTH CAMP (5 hrs trekking/ 12 km)
Today we continue our ascent by heading towards the Ontulili River, following the contours along the northern slopes before gradually turning south. We trek over moorland with its giant heather, lobelia, groundsel, animal life and numerous species of birds. We cross the Liki River, before cresting the ridge above the spectacular Mackinder Valley, from where we admire the view. From here we drop down into the valley and continuing along its eastern side climbing back again to Liki North Camp, where we overnight.

DAY 5: ARTHUR’S SEAT & SHIPTON’S CAMP (5 hrs trekking/ 12 km)
After a good breakfast we trek a semi-circular route to Arthur’s Seat at 4500m. This will act as an acclimatisation hike and along the way we can view the great valleys, glacier fields and tarns of Mt. Kenya. Tonight we return to Shipton’s Camp for another great camp dinner and a night under the beautiful African skies. We sleep well in anticipation of our big day tomorrow.

DAY 6: MACKINDER’S CAMP (8 hrs trekking/10 km)
We wake early for our big climb up to Point Lenana 4985m. The ascent is mainly on rock, sand and snow, but the view is definitely worth it. We watch the sunrise, take pictures and celebrate the feeling of being on top of the world! After a cool and possibly windy sunrise at the summit we begin our descent to Mackinder’s Camp 4200m through the Teleki Valley, and via the south side of the main peaks. After an early lunch we continue our descent to the Meteorological Station. We have dinner and overnight at the Met Station.

DAY 7: MOUNTAIN ROCK LODGE (4 hrs trekking/ 10 km)
After breakfast, we leave the Met Station and follow the trail south, until we cross Percival’s Bridge. We proceed further through the forest along a ridge between two branches of the Naro Moru River until we reach the Naro Moru Park Gate. Here we sign out and make our way to Mountain Rock Lodge. After a good shower, relax and refreshing beer we are in good spirits for our celebration meal and to toast our achievements.
 
DAY 8: ICT PROJECT VISIT
This morning we breakfast early and embark upon a 4/5 hour road transfer to Kakamega to visit the ICT project, here we will have an opportunity to learn more about ICT’s invaluable work with impoverished children. We have lunch, visit the projects and end the day with a good game of football before saying goodbye to the children. We check into our local Kakamega hotel for a final supper and night under the African stars.
 
DAY 9: NAIROBI
Today we depart Kakamega by bus for the transfer to Nairobi where we arrive in time to enjoy a meal in the city centre before boarding our overnight flight to London.

DAY 10: ARRIVE HOME
