International Childcare Trust is a small dynamic UK registered charity
working, in direct partnership with local organisations in Africa and Asia that
protect children's rights; such as their right to education and to a healthy,
happy childhood.

International Childcare Trust’s work is about ensuring that vulnerable children have a future. To achieve this we partner with local organisations in East Africa and Asia. Our projects adopt four key aims to: provide quality education and training; improve health; promote secure livelihoods and provide protection from harm. International Childcare Trust also develops the capacity of our partner organisations through information sharing and training opportunities so they can manage and sustain their activities on their own on a longer-term basis, without ongoing support from International Childcare Trust.

With over 25 years experience, International Childcare Trust is highly skilled in identifying projects that really need funding as well as investing in them wisely and appropriately. International Childcare Trust is careful to support work that is not already adequately supported by other local, national and international organisations. We look for where there are gaps.

OUR WORK DEPENDS UPON THE FUNDS THAT WE RAISE!

Western Education Advocacy and Empowerment Programme (WEAEP) – Kenya

WEAEP is a local NGO in Western Kenya with an overall aim to articulate, protect and promote the rights of women and children and create a society where their rights are respected and they have opportunities to advance their livelihoods. WEAEP is instrumental in working with street children and their siblings, orphans, and children with disabilities, young carers and other vulnerable children by providing:

  • Support services to children for assessment, psychosocial support, temporary shelter and rehabilitation;
  •  Access to primary school education through rehabilitation, provision of  school uniform and education packages;
  • Basic non-formal literacy to street children to mainstream them in public primary school education;
  • Vocational training to young female guardians and child heads of households to gain life skills;
  • Finance through revolving fund for parents, guardians and young women, which creates self employment and predictable income to support children’s basic needs.

WEAEP also works with children under the age of five years and their mothers to improve child health and reduce mortality caused by malnutrition, tuberculosis and malaria.

The money raised from Trek Mount Kenya will help us to give even more children the support they need. Thank you.
